Endings and Beginnings

A huge part of my blog was sharing my creations I made at work and the fun interactions I had with my students around crocheting. I worked in an after-school program where I’ve had the immense pleasure of teaching children how to crochet for over 12 years. I’ve also created many, many, many creations based on their suggestions, promptings (sometimes incessant), and ideas. Sadly, that has come to a close as our program shut down to make way for a district-run program.

Although I miss the students and staff, I have started a new chapter in my life. I went back to graduate school to pursue a master’s in library and information science. Back when my kids were young, I had two paths before me. One way led to teaching and the other to becoming a librarian. I chose teaching because it aligned better with my family. Now, I’m following the other path hoping it leads me somewhere wonderful.

I just finished the fall semester in my second year and am about to start the spring semester at the end of January. So far I’m doing well. I’ve pursued and gotten a few scholarships, which I’m very excited about. School has been challenging, but I’m so glad I didn’t talk myself out of it.

Crochet and my blog has unfortunately taken a back seat to my studies, but I miss it and have vowed to give it my attention. After work shut down, I didn’t crochet much. Before our program closed, I had started a Wednesday doll for a student that had begged me for months to make it. I finally found the time to start it, but then shutting down the program kept me from finishing it.
