Most Popular Posts

Friday was the  last day to enter my first ever Giveaway. I will post the winner on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018. Good Luck!

Looking back over my three years blogging, I was curious to see which were my most popular posts. I quickly realized I didn’t know what that meant. There are different analytics to look at and I wasn’t sure which one to use to measure what a ‘popular’ post was.

For example, I was going to write about my most popular post on Instagram based on likes. The problem was that the current posts are the ones with the most likes because I have more followers. I realized that I wasn’t really getting any real information there so I’m going to skip Instagram.

It can be kind of the same thing on the blog in terms of likes. The newer posts would have more likes because I have more followers now. However, I think the ‘likes’ on the blog do give a better indication of what my more popular posts are with my followers. I also looked at how many views each post had and think that is a broader measure of its popularity in general. My posts on Pinterest are all grabbed from my blog posts and I wanted to see which ones were saved the most and if there was any overlap.

So here goes:

My Blog: Most LIKED

  1. Student Corner-Crochet Heart Key Chain with 31 likes.

Hearts!

If I had to guess, I would not have thought this post would have received the most likes but it turns out my ‘Student Corner’ posts are well received and that makes me happy. 🙂

2. Crochet hook cases and holders with 30 likes.

My favorite hook case.

This was more expected. I could totally see this post being more popular since we can all use cases for something. Continue reading

My Top Five Favorite Posts

In honor of my three year blogaversay, I want to share my five favorite posts of all time. It was fun going down memory lane, getting reacquainted with posts I had completely forgotten about and was happy to rediscover.

Speaking of my blogaversay, there’s still time to enter my first ever Giveaway! Last day to enter is January 19, 2018.

And my five favorite posts are…

Number 5: Success!

This post was all about my sis-in-law reading the book I wrote on doll making (that has yet to get laid out or self published!) and making this great doll following my instructions. I was so happy and tickled with her doll. Continue reading

Start of a New Year and Photography

I hope everyone’s New Year is going great. I also want to remind everyone there’s still time to sign up for my first ever Giveaway. I hope you pop on over and enter. 🙂

I’ve had a three week break from work this holiday season which ends next Monday. Yikes! I have gotten a lot of things crossed off my to-do list and feel very accomplished. Surprisingly, crochet was not one of those things. This first week into the new year was supposed to be about crocheting but my focus took a different turn; photography.

It might surprise folks that I actually have a Bachelor’s degree in photography.
I completed my degree way back in 1994, but hey, I still have that degree! I shot professionally for a few years after college. Right out of school, I photographed high school seniors and weddings. Although I have never stopped shooting, I headed more towards education so I could work around my children, eventually earning a Master’s in teaching. I continue to shoot product shots for my hubby (he’s a graphic designer and sometimes needs photos) and am the resident photographer for my family, but I no longer shoot professionally. As a consequence, I pull out my camera less and less. I pull it out for my crochet items but at least half the time it’s more convenient to use my cell phone. Continue reading

Blogaversary Crochet Giveaway!

My First Giveaway!

In honor of my three year blogaversary and also passing two levels of the Teacher Certification course from the Craft Yarn Council, I am giving away two of the projects I completed in the course.

First, let me say how appreciative I am of my blogging community, those that follow me and those that I follow. So many of the blogs I follow have been such an inspiration for my own blog and I can only hope that my blog has inspired someone else’s. Here’s to another wonderful blogging year!

Item 1: Crochet baby sweater

It’s technically a baby sweater but it can be used on a large doll. Sized for infants 12-18 months in Barnat baby sport (3) acrylic yarn.

Item 2: Flat crochet doll

Square rag doll

This is my first giveaway so it’s a bit of a learning curve for me, which is why I haven’t done one already (even though I’ve wanted to for a bit). I think the biggest fear is that no one will want what I’m giving away, followed by the fear that I’m not doing it right. This being the start of a new year, I don’t want that holding me back. I’m going to dive in and give it a shot and learn as I go.

Unfortunately, this giveaway is only for the USA entrants. International shipping is a bit beyond my reach.

How to win

I want to keep it simple. Just leave a comment stating which item you’d like to be entered for (you can be entered for both if you like). I want to make sure you get something you want. 🙂

There’s no need to ‘follow’ or ‘like’ anything but if you’re not a follower already, I hope you take a moment to look around and ‘follow’ and ‘like’ if you enjoy what you see. 🙂

Good luck! (For me too!)

Three Years Blogging!

Have a Fun New Year’s Eve Everyone!

IMG_4588.jpg

I’m ready to ring in the new year!

I never do reviews or anniversaries on this blog. Not because I don’t like them but because I never think of doing them. Then I see all these posts with monthly reviews, and then yearly reviews, and tell myself I’ll do one too and then I don’t. Then there’s the blog anniversary ones and it gets me thinking about how I don’t even know when my blog’s anniversary is! Blasphemy. 🙂

This post is my attempt at playing catch up. I admit that I had to go back and check when I started blogging and it was on Dec. 18th, 2014. So I’ve been at this for three years! Seems like just yesterday. Even though the 18th has passed already, I’m going to look at it as my blogaversary month (it’s still December!).  Continue reading
