The Koroneburg Renaissance Festival is over now and I’m so glad I went back to do the fashion show. I was so caught up in indecision, I almost didn’t go. I was invited to participate by one of the guild members who really liked my fairy outfit. I’ve always wanted to enter a costume contest and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.
Then why the hesitation? I was nervous. I also couldn’t decide if I wanted to wear the same fairy costume, my dragon cloak, or wear my mermaid outfit. This would be this fair’s first fashion show/contest, and I noticed that most people were dressed in period pieces versus the fantasy stuff. I wasn’t sure I’d fit in. But I WAS invited, so that meant they thought it was a good fit, right? Right!
I decided at the last minute to attend and went in my mermaid outfit. It was so hot (the weather)! It was much hotter than our last visit and I was sweating bullets. I found the place I needed to be and got registered. The other costumes were fantastic and I was right, no one else was dressed in fantasy garb. I stood out.
But everyone was so friendly and complimentary about my outfit. I made a little mermaid doll to go with me and offer me comfort when I got nervous.
I’m really glad I didn’t let me my nerves stop me from going. It was super fun and I even won first place with two other ladies. We each got $50 dollar gift cards to Joann’s, which I still haven’t used (but I will)!
That’s me almost ready to go up on stage. I was so nervous.

EEK! Almost next! The mermaid doll was scared too.
I wanted to share some pictures of me up on stage but I looked so awkward! I’ll just share this one after I received my award. 🙂
Obviously I’m going to spend my gift card on yarn, I just haven’t decided what I want to splurge on.
This will now be my new Ren Fair of choice. It’s close and it’s super fun. Can’t wait for next year!
