Happy Halloween!

Our kids are grown (I’m including all the nephews and nieces in the collective ‘our’) so we’re done with the trick-or-treating, but my hubs and I still wanted to do something for the season. We opted to go to Coffin Creek right here in our city of Corona. It’s a Halloween themed event that’s held at the same place as the Koroneburg Renaissance Festival. In fact, some of the same people who work at the festival were working that night!

There were five attractions: a hay ride, a maze, and three haunted houses. I wanted to dress up but the hubs was all, umm, no one dresses up. I was all, ummm, of course they do! He was right, no one else dressed up…but I didn’t care. I had fun.

Yolanda Mistress of the Dark!

The best part was running into the lady who was part of the fashion show at the Ren Faire. I was at her booth and we started talking. She didn’t remember me at first, but I reminded her I was the one with the crochet outfit. She got excited and said I was on her flyer. It was on display at her table with all the Faire info. Squeeee! I’m on the flyer!

That’s me on the lower left!

She asked what I was making for next year. I’m not sure yet but it’s gotta be good. I better get cracking on something right now! 🙂

Fashion Show at the Koroneburg Festival 2019

The Koroneburg Renaissance Festival is over now and I’m so glad I went back to do the fashion show. I was so caught up in indecision, I almost didn’t go. I was invited to participate by one of the guild members who really liked my fairy outfit. I’ve always wanted to enter a costume contest and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Then why the hesitation? I was nervous. I also couldn’t decide if I wanted to wear the same fairy costume, my dragon cloak, or wear my mermaid outfit. This would be this fair’s first fashion show/contest, and I noticed that most people were dressed in period pieces versus the fantasy stuff. I wasn’t sure I’d fit in. But I WAS invited, so that meant they thought it was a good fit, right? Right!

I decided at the last minute to attend and went in my mermaid outfit. It was so hot (the weather)! It was much hotter than our last visit and I was sweating bullets. I found the place I needed to be and got registered. The other costumes were fantastic and I was right, no one else was dressed in fantasy garb. I stood out.

But everyone was so friendly and complimentary about my outfit. I made a little mermaid doll to go with me and offer me comfort when I got nervous.

Corona fair_34.jpgI’m really glad I didn’t let me my nerves stop me from going. It was super fun and I even won first place with two other ladies. We each got $50 dollar gift cards to Joann’s, which I still haven’t used (but I will)!

That’s me almost ready to go up on stage. I was so nervous.

EEK! Almost next! The mermaid doll was scared too.

I wanted to share some pictures of me up on stage but I looked so awkward! I’ll just share this one after I received my award. 🙂

Corona fair_35.jpgObviously I’m going to spend my gift card on yarn, I just haven’t decided what I want to splurge on.

This will now be my new Ren Fair of choice. It’s close and it’s super fun. Can’t wait for next year!
