A little catch-up on what’s been (and hasn’t been) happening lately. Can you believe I have hardly picked up a crochet hook this summer? I did work on my book a little. I took some better pictures and tightened up some of the writing but I didn’t do nearly enough of what I should have.
Partly, that was because I went on a seven day cruise with my family. We had such a fabulous time. It was a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and it was wonderful being able to do it. My two sisters with their grown children and my hubby, son and I were able to go. All our youngest kids graduated from high school (three of them) and taking the cruise was a way to celebrate that milestone. We had such a good time!

Ready to board the ship with hubby and son!

Movie Night Onboard

Cabo San Lucas

Proof I was in Cabo

I just couldn’t resist this in Mazatlan!

It’s bolder than I expected.

I can clean up sometimes 🙂

Off the ship in Puerto Vallarta with hubby and son.

Back home in the Long Beach Port. I couldn’t capture how pretty the sunrise looked but this will do.
But alas, all good things come to an end, and when we got back, my summer vacation was over and it was straight back to work (after school program).
So pretty much, I was consumed by work and didn’t even have time to read through the blogs I follow, let alone write anything. Slowly but surely, I’ve been catching up on the blogs and I’m settled in at work so I feel I can get back to my writing and crochet. I even slowed down on my backyard. I worked furiously on it before we left on the cruise but haven’t really touched it since we got back. I’m ready to tackle that too.

Just a few of the plants that need planting. And there’s that demon dog messing with everything.

Even more plants that need planting! Yep, there’s doggy again. I couldn’t get her out of the picture. 🙂
I’ve been at work for two weeks now, and I only picked up the hook once, and it was a half-hearted attempt at that since I didn’t have anything specific in mind. The beginning of the school year is always hectic with lots of changes and getting our new students acclimated to the program. It’s such a fun place that it doesn’t take much. Mostly, we have to get them used to the rules.
I can say though, and it makes my heart sing, that many of my returning crocheters jumped right into crocheting. The moment they walked in the door, I had many of them asking if they could crochet. From my kinders to my 5th graders. AND, some of my first graders were teaching some of the new kids, AND the new kids were learning to chain from them without my intervention at all! I couldn’t believe it! I can’t even express how surreal it feels to know that I started something that’s taken on a life of its own.
As for my book, I set a self-imposed deadline to get my book re-worked by the end of summer. When does summer end? Hmmm, let me see…how much time do I have? Let me do a quick search here…
September 21st? I have plenty of time!
What a fantastic holiday, you look fabulous. Glad you all enjoyed it. 😉 All wonderful things end and life is back to routine. Good to have a good break.

The necklace looks even more pretty in the e-mail. I can’t wait to see it in person. I’m glad the kids jumped right back in to crocheting. That’s got to be encouraging.

I can’t wait to show it to you! I couldn’t believe it about the kids. New kids to the program were crocheting and I was all, who taught you? A Kinder! It was really cute.
